UK BRAND REVIEW: Yorica Ice cream

YORICA
Yorica! is one of my favourites products I have reviewed . It is so rare for brands that have such initiative when it comes to allergies. There are very few companies (especially in the UK) that provide products that are free from the top 14 allergens & vegan. Whilst this is the case for Yorica, I know not everyone cant eat their products, (either they are allergic to coconut or another ingredient or you do not live in the U). However, what Yorica has done for this community needs to be celebrated and shared.
Yorica started in 2015 and opened its doors to a free from ice cream parlour, in the centre of London, in 2016. A lot of you, I am sure, have never been able to go into an ice cream shop and be able to safely eat, knowing you are protected from your allergen, I sure haven’t. Yorica’s ice cream shop is home to 11 different flavours, served with waffles, pancakes and toppings (all of them free from). The staff does not bring in food the the shop, they must eat anything outside. After the shop was a success they started selling tubs in stores. I have bought every flavour and I can tell you that they have not missed a step in the taste department. Unfortunately, my plans to go to the physical shop were delayed due to covid, that hasn’t stopped me from purchasing their products. Due to this virus they had to close down the shop, and as they are a small business they rely on loyal customers to keep them afloat. I hope that after reading this (if you are in the UK) that you purchase their tubs, or invest in them HERE. These are the companies we need to support, they need to know that this is making a difference in people’s lives.

This is a brand I would recommend to anyone. The only con I have is that it is very calorific but if thats the only downside…

Please watch this video or listen to the audio of this podcast from May Contain. Listening to the Simon the innovator (not the founder) behind this brand, brought me to tears. They take allergies very seriously, at their own economic risk, and I couldn’t appreciate them more for that. It is hard to put in place all of the procedures for eliminating cross contamination but they are doing it, and hopefully many more will follow in their yummy footsteps!
