Behind the Allergy

I had gelato for the first time... in Venice!

Having ice cream outside of the house has always been a barrier for me. I am not allergic to dairy but most ice cream parlours are ripe with cross contamination. I was not optomistic when I went to italy that I would even eat, let alone eat gelato.

Thankfully Spokin App was there for me. I saw a lot of reviews that show cased this one store - Gelateria Gallonetto - the reviews on Trip advisor said its was the best gelato in venice, but the only review I needed was on Spokin.

From these reviews I knew I had to see for myself, and I wasnt disappointed.

When I tell you that this gelato shop made my dreams come true it would be an understatement because this a dream I could never even think of putting on my vision board because it never seemed like a possibility.

Most gelato shops I have been to usually have the Ice Creams displayed next to each other for you to see, and usually there are drips of the other flavours around the sides, which is not great for cross contamination- however, in Gelato Gallonetto they have their gelato in tubs, that are covered!

BUT not only are they covered but they have one stacked on another, SO that means that they can remove the top tub and scoop from an untouched gelato tub.

BUT not only do they take your gelato from the safe untouched tub, they immediately went to get a clean spoon when I told them I had allergies!

Sorry… what?!

To say I was amazed would be an understatement. Also, it was not only safe for my allergies, but they understood, she told me what was in my flavour choice and she said that she had a boyfriend with a nut allergy so she KNEW! She KNEW!

I am going to keep dreaming of tasting that gelato again.
