Quick homemade wraps
I go through phases of being obsessed with wraps. The reason why I go out of it is that I remember how many ingredients they put in the store bought wraps. It’s the reason why I make my own bread (too many preservatives for my liking). So I decided if I could make my own bread, why can’t I make my own wraps.
I gave my favourite uses after the recipe for inspiration!
I tried many different recipes, all were great, but this is my favourite. They come out thin, crispy and very tasty. Recipe adapted from nourish and fete
Ingredients
3 cups plain flour (or wholewheat flour)
1tsp salt
1tsp baking powder
1/3 cup oil (veggie oil or sunflower works best)
1 cup hot water (careful as you will use your hands)
Method
In a mixing bowl, add flour, salt, and baking powder and combine.
Make a well in the centre and add in the oil, combine with a fork.
Should have little balls formed.
Make another well and add in the boiling water slowly.
Mixing with a spatula or a wooden spoon.
Keep adding the water until a dough is formed.
Use your hands to get the dough to come together.
Take the dough on a floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes, making sure dough is not too watery or stiff.
Tear apart balls for as many wraps that you want. I made 18 (I think). I like smaller & thinner wraps.
When you have your balls put them back in the mixing bowl and cover with a tea towel or 10 minutes.
When ready, roll out each ball to your preferred thickness.
Prepare a pan on the stove medium heat (no oil), and dry fry each wrap, turn over you see air bubbles.
Repeat for each wrap.
Place in an airtight container and place in the fridge for everyday use.
Options for wraps
