Quick homemade wraps

I go through phases of being obsessed with wraps. The reason why I go out of it is that I remember how many ingredients they put in the store bought wraps. It’s the reason why I make my own bread (too many preservatives for my liking). So I decided if I could make my own bread, why can’t I make my own wraps.

I gave my favourite uses after the recipe for inspiration!

I tried many different recipes, all were great, but this is my favourite. They come out thin, crispy and very tasty. Recipe adapted from nourish and fete

Ingredients

  • 3 cups plain flour (or wholewheat flour)

  • 1tsp salt

  • 1tsp baking powder

  • 1/3 cup oil (veggie oil or sunflower works best)

  • 1 cup hot water (careful as you will use your hands)

Method

  • In a mixing bowl, add flour, salt, and baking powder and combine.

  • Make a well in the centre and add in the oil, combine with a fork.

  • Should have little balls formed.

  • Make another well and add in the boiling water slowly.

  • Mixing with a spatula or a wooden spoon.

  • Keep adding the water until a dough is formed.

  • Use your hands to get the dough to come together.

  • Take the dough on a floured surface and knead for 1-2 minutes, making sure dough is not too watery or stiff.

  • Tear apart balls for as many wraps that you want. I made 18 (I think). I like smaller & thinner wraps.

  • When you have your balls put them back in the mixing bowl and cover with a tea towel or 10 minutes.

  • When ready, roll out each ball to your preferred thickness.

  • Prepare a pan on the stove medium heat (no oil), and dry fry each wrap, turn over you see air bubbles.

  • Repeat for each wrap.

  • Place in an airtight container and place in the fridge for everyday use.
